Experience Canal Culture, Washington County Historical Society's local exhibit examining the impact of the C&O Canal on the area—as a major trade route, vacation destination, and large part of the local economy—for almost 200 years.

The mission of the Washington County Historical Society is to develop an interest in and preserve the history of Washington County, Maryland. Through educational programming, exhibits, lectures, family workshops, and events, visitors can view and experience a variety of topics related to the preservation of our area’s treasures.


Maryland Humanities is a statewide, educational nonprofit organization that creates and supports educational experiences in the humanities that inspire all Marylanders to embrace lifelong learning, exchange ideas openly, and enrich their communities.
